EDDIE Final Event and LSP on the Digitalisation of the Energy System - Keynote Speeches and Event Highlights

The EDucation for DIgitalization of the Energy Project organized its final event - ”EDDIE Final Event and LSP on the Digitalisation of the Energy System” - after almost four years of constant activity of the European Consortium which implemented the project. The event took place on Thursday, 14th December 2023, at the Permanent Representation of Romania to the European Union in Brussels and it was dedicated to identifying and assess skills gaps, needs, high-impact policies and regulations in the energy sector, for energy transition through digitalization.

With the scope of EDDIE in mind, the nature of the educational programs – and other forms of training activities – included within the program is quite wide and heterogeneous. The training activities envisioned could include everything from short focused on-the-job activities, via online vocational and/or academic training courses to fully fledged master level programs. To create a structure by which a large variety of educational programs can be identified, documented and above all presented to prospective students and learners the EDDIE program template has been developed.

ingREeS project - Setting up Qualification and Continuing Education and Training Scheme for Middle and Senior Level Professionals on Energy Efficiency and Use of Renewable Energy Sources in Buildings

The ingREeS Project is linked to the European Build Up Skills Initiative (BUS).The Project has extended the implementation of the roadmaps established and endorsed under the Pillar I BUS Slovakia and BUS Czech Republic projects focused on enhancement of skills of craftsmen and on-site workers in the sectors of buildings, to middle and senior level construction professionals. The roadmaps identified key measures for setting up a national qualification and training schemes and other measures for ensuring the development of skills essential for the field of buildings to the fulfilment of the Europe 2020 energy targets. The project established the necessary resources and prepared technical, organizational and financial conditions for training and re-training on energy efficiency and use of renewable energy sources for middle and senior level professionals in the field of buildings.

European Energy Manager-EUREMnext (Multicountry)

EUREM is a standardised European EnergyManager training program comprising courses, self-learning and practical work, combined with access to a European alumni network for continued knowledge exchange. Participants learn to describe the technical and financial aspects of their measures in a standardised and concise way, to facilitate decisions at management level. On average about 75% of these measures get implemented and further ones are carried out later on. Developed in a SAVE II project in 2003-2005 and developed further partly with the help of EU and nationally funded programmes, partly with the training providers’ own resources, the course has been offered regularly since then (currently in 27 countries world-wide) counting now more than 5,000 alumni.

EDDIE representatives participated at the ”Smart City Days”, organised by City of Herne together with IWARE Foundation e.V., the ruhrvalley Cluster e.V and the IDEASFORUM. On 21 and 22 September 2023, guests from business, research, innovation and society met for the Smart City Day at the Mulvany Villa in Shamrockpark in Herne, Germany. The city of Herne encouraged networking beyond the city borders for an exchange on digitalisation, innovation, and smart city aspects.

This relevant meeting was organized by the project coordinator COMILLAS Pontifical University, on Thursday, 8th of June 2023. The role of Education in the Digital Era for Digitalization will create the framework for EDDIE Project to take part in the decision-making process of Digitalization of the European Energy Sector (DEES).

LSP FOR DIGITALISATION OF ENERGY

EDDIE PROJECT ORGANIZED THE 1st WORKSHOP ON DEVELOPING THE "LARGE SCALE PARTNERSHIP FOR DIGITALISATION OF ENERGY”

EDDIE representatives launched the first online workshop for the development of a "Large Scale Partnership for Digitalisation of Energy" on the 30th of May 2023. The event has been organized in collaboration with European Commission’s (EC) Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW), Directorate-General for Energy (DG ENER), Ecorys and 3S, to address the need of having a skilled workforce to accelerate the digital transition.

During “T4.1: Identification and assessment of skill delivery and professional knowledge to address digitalization”, the EDDIE project partners conducted an online survey between November and December 2021 to gather valuable insights and identify the main challenges the Vocational Education and Training (VET) systems are facing in the area of digitalization of the energy system and the associated demand for new skills.

EDDIE PROJECT CO-ORGANIZED THE SMART ENERGY SOLUTIONS FOR THE ENERGY TRANSITION CONFERENCE

EDDIE Project co-organized the Smart Energy Solutions for the Energy Transition conference together with Bochum University of Applied Sciences, RWTH – Aachen University and the IDEASFORUM e.V. association. The event took place on the 24th of May 2023 in Herne and addressed the important role of open-source data platforms and business models for the necessary change in the energy grid as part of the energy transition.

EDDIE Project – ”EDucation for Digitalization of Energy" was referenced in the framework of the ”Digitalising the Energy System - EU Action Plan” which was released on 18th of October 2022 by the European Commission (EC). The Action Plan is very important and relevant for the EDDIE project for the development of the long-driven sector skills strategy and the creation of a large-scale partnership on digitalization of the energy value chain strongly linked with the future entity, proposed by the Blueprint Erasmus+ project.

A Project for the Education Of the century: ACM 3.0

The Padre Piquer Training Center is one of the pioneering centers in educational innovation in the classroom in Spain. To combat some of the problems of today's education such as school absenteeism or early school leaving, the school has embarked for some years on a deep process of digitalization of its classrooms. In the training center, 100% of the students from secondary, high and Vocational Educational Training Programmes have an electronic device (iPAD or Hp) to work in the classroom.
