Micro-Credentials Workshop on the Digitalisation of the Energy System
Wednesday, 28.1.2026
Venue: Universidad Pontificia Comillas Room: E-308 (3rd Floor) Alberto Aguilera, 23 – 28015 Madrid, Spain
Introduction and Objectives
The objective of the workshop is to introduce and contextualise micro-credentials as a strategic response to evolving skills needs, labour-market demand, and lifelong learning policies, with a particular focus on the digitalisation of the energy system. The workshop will set the scene by presenting the policy and educational foundations of micro-credentials, followed by practical insights into their design, quality assurance, recognition, and delivery models.
The session will highlight how micro-credentials can complement formal higher education, vocational education and training (VET), and professional up-skilling initiatives. It will provide participants with a clear framework to understand the relevance of micro-credentials in today’s skills ecosystem, how they are structured and recognised across education and training systems, and what is required to move from concept to learner-centered, market-relevant implementation.
Target Audience
The workshop is addressed to higher education institutions, VET providers, industry stakeholders, policy actors, and training providers actively engaged in skills development for the energy sector.
