EDDIE: Powering the Digital Future of the European Energy Sector

The Education for Digitalisation of Energy Association (EDDIE) was officially launched as a legal entity in July 2024, marking a key milestone in Europe ’s energy transition. This new association represents the evolution of previous collaborative efforts into a permanent structure dedicated to digital upskilling. With digital skills taking centre stage, EDDIE is set to revolutionise the sector by driving digital upskilling, fostering collaboration, and shaping policies for a future-proof energy workforce. With the energy sector undergoing rapid digitalisation, EDDIE is taking a leading role in equipping the workforce with the skills needed to navigate the challenges and opportunities of the digital age. This new initiative will foster digital skills development, strengthen stakeholder collaboration, and drive forward policies that support a future-ready energy sector.

As a key driver of change, EDDIE is committed to promoting and enhancing EU policies for digital skills, facilitating knowledge exchange among stakeholders, and leading research and education initiatives to boost digital literacy across the energy value chain.

At the core of EDDIE’s mission is the coordination of the Large-Scale Partnership (LSP) on 2 the digitalisation of the energy system, a flagship initiative under the European Commission’s Pact for Skills
